When buying a tent consider the number of people you will be housing and the amount of under-cover storage space you may require. Also consider the weight of the tent if you have to pack it into your camping spot, as well as how easy or difficult it is to put up and take down.

Sleeping bags – there are a wonderful variety of light-weight, ultra warm and very durable sleeping bags available at most camping stores. Sleeping bags come in a variety of sizes, from extra long to children’s sizes. Be sure that the first aid kit contains antibacterial cream, disinfectants, bandages of all different sizes, gauze, pain medication, tweezers, scissors and a tensor wrap. Some creams or lotions for insect bites and sunburn prevention are also a great idea.

Cooking surface – don’t count on a fire always being possible, depending on where you are camping, fire regulations and restrictions, or wet weather. A small, portable propane stove or charcoal grill can be a life saver for heating up food and water.

Food – it is important to bring more food than you think you will require, just as a safety precaution if the trip lasts somewhat longer than originally planned. There are freeze-dried and pre-packaged foods that are easy to carry and ideal in the case of emergency.

It helped campers a lot because they were able to make new friends, knew good things about themselves, did certain things which they were frightened to do first. Parents are happy to send them to camp because it helped their child to build self confidence, they do keep in touch with their friends even after the camp.

For years, camper’s parents have reported that when their children return home they are more caring, understand the importance of giving, and are more responsible and trustworthy. While attending a camp the camper is able to improve on his physical characteristics like trained supervision, balanced meals, camping increases mental and physical vigor. Children improve on their social skills. They learn about different races, economic levels, religions, gender and level of capabilities.

Thank goodness that we live in a day and age where camping supply manufacturers are constantly coming up with better equipment, whether it’s lighter backpacks, bigger tents that are lighter, or tents that have power hook ups, you can pretty much find what you are looking for for the type of camping you are going to do.

I want to break down some gear that I have found useful and hopefully will make your next camping adventure even more fun!

1.Tent for shelter
Pretty easy to figure that out!
2.Sleeping bag and sleeping pad
Place the sleeping pad under the sleeping bag to provide cushioning, as well as provide insulation especially needed when camping in colder climates.
3.Flashlight or Lantern
You don’t want to step on anything in the dark, believe me!
4.Axe or Hatchet
You’ll need something to cut wood down for your campfire.
5.Fire Starter
I would recommend either waterproof matches or some other type of ignition device; even a magnesium fire starter would do the trick.
6.Ropes
This is important for securing down tents or even using the rope as a clothesline to hang wet clothing over.
7.Essential Clothing
Raincoats or ponchos, hiking boots, and any other type of rainproof clothing is always important to have on hand just in case. Also, make sure you bring enough clothes to change into in case your clothing does get wet, this is especially important in cold climate camping.
8.Personal Care Items
Even though you’re out in the wild you can still bring along your toothbrush, soap, or a towel.
Don’t forget the first-aid kit! It’s very important to remember this!
Insect repellent is also important, especially one that contains DEET.
9.Food Essentials
I have found that having a chuck box to store pots and pans in is a great way to transport and also serves well for preparing food at the campsite.
If camping in a modern campsite most people bring perishable foods in coolers; however, if camping in the backcountry you should bring non-perishable foods like dried fruits and nuts, and jerky.
Of course you will also need beverages, sometimes it is a good idea to bring portable water filters so you can actually drink from the local rivers or lakes where you are camping.
A cooler is also another essential for storing your beverages or any other type of food that needs to be cold.
10.Stoves
Some campgrounds do not allow you to have a campfire, so you should bring a portable stove. There are many out there that really work well.

These are just a few of the basic items that you’ll need. Make sure you write down a list of items to bring and cross them off before heading out.
